Bold Like Britt 1st Annual 5K

In September 2022, Bold Like Britt Co.—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Brittany Cass, a survivor of a devastating drunk-driving crash in January 2022—hosted its first #BoldLikeBritt 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run.

In September 2022, Bold Like Britt—a nonprofit founded by drunk driving crash survivor Brittany Cass—hosted its inaugural 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run in eastern North Carolina. It was more than just a community race; it was the birth of a movement dedicated to educating others about the dangers of drunk driving and inspiring change through resilience, faith, and action.

A steady rain fell, but instead of dampening spirits, it seemed to ignite them. Hundreds of people—friends from church, military service members, neighbors, and complete strangers—showed up in ponchos and rain jackets, ready to run, walk, and stand shoulder to shoulder with Brittany.

Every step taken that day was a statement: drunk driving destroys lives, but community can rebuild them. The turnout was a testament to how deeply Brittany’s story had resonated—not just as a tragedy, but as a rallying cry for change.

Donations came in from all directions—race participants, local businesses, military units, and supporters near and far. These funds became the fuel for Bold Like Britt’s mission: to educate people about the very thing that almost took Brittany’s life, and to prevent others from enduring the same pain.

Soon after, Bold Like Britt made a $10,000 donation to MADD North Carolina.

The first annual run wasn’t just a fundraiser—it was a public testament to survivorship and resilience. It brought community members together to support legislative efforts, partnerships, and support networks, beginning Bold Like Britt’s powerful journey.
