Brittany Cass speaking to a crowd at an outdoor community event

The 4th Annual Bold Like Britt 5K united survivors, families, and nonprofit partners to raise awareness and inspire hope through community.

Being a survivor is a gift I never asked for — but one I’m deeply humbled and honored to carry. With it comes the privilege of connecting with people in ways that are hard to put into words.

As we hosted our 4th Annual Bold Like Britt 5K, I was reminded again: this isn’t about me or the recognition. It’s so much bigger. It’s about creating space for those who may be navigating something hard and doing it quietly. It’s about reaching people who don’t yet have the words, the strength, or the courage to ask for help — and letting them know they don’t have to carry it alone.

It’s about encouraging those in the middle of pain to keep going, to hold onto faith when the road feels heavy, and to believe that healing is possible — even if it doesn’t look anything like they expected it would. Mine didn’t and still doesn’t.

Standing alongside nonprofits whose missions were born from heartbreak and lived experience was incredibly powerful. Together, we’re helping point our community toward resources that break the cycle of drug and alcohol addiction, offer real support, and hopefully inspire change so other families don’t have to walk the road mine did.

I may never say I’m grateful for my crash, but I am deeply grateful for the relationships and people it’s brought into my life — and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
